‎Summary It is generally accepted that the Greek translation of the Pentateuch was undertaken in Egypt, in the 3rd century BCE. Then, it is only logical that the translators and the translation itself were influenced by the environment the translation took place in, by its languages, its usages and beliefs. Nevertheless, previous scholarly endeavours only partially address the issue of these contextual influences on the Greek translation. Although some valid attempts to uncover echoes of the Egyptian environment in the Septuagint translation have been made in the past century, no systematic study had been produced. In the wake of a renewed interest for Egyptian features in the Septuagint translation, the present volume aims at offering the first systematic study on Egyptian influences in the first three books of the Pentateuch: Genesis, Exodus, and Leviticus. An accurate analysis of various translational choices reflected in lexical elements which have been influenced by the Egyptian milieu such as proper names, toponyms, geographical images, job titles, weights and measures, animal names, realia, and theological accents demonstrates to what extent the translators were acquainted with the environment they lived in. Examining this phenomenon, which might initially appear marginal, reveals itself to be a pressing issue in the emerging trends of Septuagint studies. ‎Vue lithographique rare du canal de Suez, publiée en supplément du journal "Graphic" du 2 Septembre 1882. Comme indiqué ci-dessous, cette vue a probablement été réalisée à une époque où les Britanniques cherchaient activement à acquérir des participations financières dans la Compagnie du canal de Suez, occupant l'Égypte et réprimant la révolte d'Urabi. Bien que le canal ait été achevé en 1869, la première décennie d'exploitation fut tumultueuse. Les travaux commencèrent sur les rives du futur Port-Saïd en avril 1859. Le creusement dura dix ans. Certaines sources estiment que plus de 30 000 personnes travaillaient sur le canal à tout moment, que plus de 1,5 million de personnes de divers pays y étaient employées et que des dizaines de milliers d'ouvriers périrent, dont beaucoup du choléra et d'épidémies similaires. Le canal fut ouvert sous contrôle français en novembre 1869. Après son ouverture, la Compagnie du canal de Suez connut des difficultés financières. Les travaux restants ne furent achevés qu'en 1871, et le trafic fut inférieur aux prévisions durant les deux premières années. Le canal eut un impact immédiat et considérable sur le commerce mondial. ‎Summary Through the word corpus, the metaphor of the body is applied to a collection of works by the same author that are transmitted together. These works not only share the same skin, the manuscript, but also function organically thanks to a complex system of paracontents. It is possible to see this system at work in the case of only a very few medieval authors throughout history, cultures and languages; the Corpus Nazianzenum and the Corpus Dionysiacum are such instances. Both Gregory of Nazianzus and Dionysius the Areopagite are super-authors, who forged their own literary identity as much as they shaped the body of their writings.
