Mecanique celeste s'appliquant principalement au systeme solaire, marginalisation d'une tradition astrologique pourtant remanente, creation de modeles, analyse de donnees..., tout concourt a former les esprits - au siecle des Lumieres notamment - a la comprehension du Monde que viennent renforcer les decouvertes de l'astrometrie et de l'astrophysique. L'unite du volume, confortee par la variete des sujets traites, doit permettre au lecteur qui n'a pu se rendre a Liege en 1997, d'apprecier l'influence reciproque precoce des deux domaines de la recherche qu'il couvre.
