Among objects of decorative use, the lamp is distinguished by its dual personality: a decorative object when it is turned off, it is transformed when it is turned on by the effect of light. In the late 1960s, when design wanted to discover new languages, the lamp became a challenge for every creator, artist or designer. Fulvio Ferrari has selected 178 memorable lamps from that period, produced by 65 companies and designed by 142 designers. Italian light-design and well-known designers like Ettore Sottsass, Achille Castiglioni, Superstudio, Joe Colombo, Gianfranco Fini, Mario Bellini, Cesare Casati and George Sowden.
