It was the use of the apparatus and methods developed here, that enabled scientists the world over to gain some understanding of utilization of energy by many different animals.The inspiration for the space age scientific novel by JULES VERNE ""De la Terre a la Lune"" (1865) was based on the methods described by Regnault and Reiset in this paper to provide oxygen and remove carbon dioxide produced by men, dogs and chickens in the ""projectile"". The Kr ller-M ller Museum has about a thousand drawings dating before 1850, mostly from the Northern and Southern Netherlands and Italy. For Aged well, a selection of the finest and most exceptional old drawings has been made, dating from the sixteenth tot the early nineteenth century. The exhibition is accompanied by the catalogue Aged well. Drawings from the Kr ller-M ller collection: 1500-1850. The one hundred drawings by 55 different artists have been researched extensively and the result can be read in this richly illustrated publication. The attributions and dates have been re-examined, but also the position of the works within the artist?s oeuvre, the representations and provenance history.
