‎Stijn Streuvels is gebore in 1871 en sterf in 1969. Sy vader was kleremaker en sy moeder die dogter van ?n tuinier. Guido Gezelle was sy oom aan moederskant. Streuvels toring uit as een van die grootste figure van die Nederlandse literatuur, en sy novelle, Het leven en de dood in de ast (Die Wentelbaan), is een van die hoogtepunte. Hoewel hy ?n tragiese figuur is, is die mens se lewe nie sonder sy ligter oomblikke nie. Dood waarsku die mens om op te kyk na die sterre, om te leef 'soos die voels van die veld'. Die samehangende lae ? die boeiende prosa, maatskaplike konteks, menslike psige en besinning ? bepaal die gehalte van Streuvels se novelle. Die struktuur self weerspieel die opvatting van die ewige siklus. ?n Tegniek wat magiese realisme antisipeer, verleen vorm aan die dualitiese posisie van die karakters. Die metafore is direk ontleen aan die wereld van die dramatis personae. Die teks word verryk deur musikale elemente, wat harmoniseer in byna poetiese prosa. orig. Stijn Streuvels vert. Some mostly marginal dampstains, some marginal tears, some brownspots mainly marginal. Upper margin of plate 3 partly gone. Margins strenghtened at verso with brown paper. Some variation to paperquality, but in general in good strong impressions.‎

‎The procession gives a panoramic view through Stockholm with the Swedish battleships, salute-firing in the harbour. The engraving was published together with Pufendorf's work, De rebus a Carolo Gustavi gestis...Nürenberg, 1696. The procession was drawn by Erik Dahlberg who was an eyewitness and engraved by different engravers.‎
