George Grosz (German: born Georg Ehrenfried Gro ; July 26, 1893 - July 6, 1959) was a German artist known especially for his caricatural drawings and paintings of Berlin life in the 1920s. He was a prominent member of the Berlin Dada and New Objectivity groups during the Weimar Republic. He immigrated to the United States in 1933, and became a naturalized citizen in 1938. Abandoning the style and subject matter of his earlier work, he exhibited regularly and taught for many years at the Art Students League of New York. In 1959 he returned to Berlin, where he died shortly afterwards.

The skin of women who have been scratched, mistreated and loved - loved too much. Women who are very real. The cold, artificial light of a studio, like the light that bathed the artists' studios of the nineteenth century. In the center is a big rock made of papier-mache, at once base, pedestal and sculptor's stool. Haute couture dresses that have been torn, abused and recomposed - tragic and sublime, just like the Heroines who wear them. By playing on these four elements. Bettina Rheims transcends portrait, fashion and nude photography and touches on something more secret and intimate - something painful, amorous and captivating that comes more from the soul than from the body. .
, Schirmer/Mosel, 2005 HB, 152 pages, ENG / GER, 300 x 240 x 15 mm, 11 Coloured , 91 z/w illustrations, in Good condition. ISBN 9783829600224.
Bettina Rheims has been one of the most acclaimed woman photographers of France since the early 80s, when she first showed her sensational female nudes and portraits. Film stars, actresses and artists, models, friends, country fair acrobats and strippers-- known and unknown women have posed in front of her lens during the past twenty years. Female Trouble, first published in 1989 by Schirmer/Mosel, presents a selection of some one hundred photographs--brilliant studies on womankind mostly in black and white, her favored technique mastered with a unique subtlety. The common denominator of this collection of photographs is Rheims' sensitive and delicate relation with her sitters, revealing an extraordinary originality, empathy, sense of style and feeling for both the manifold facets of femininity and pictorial eroticism. The plates are preceded by an introductory essay by Catherine Deneuve.

Die faszinierenden und mystischen Bildwelten der Symbolisten George Minne (1866-1941) und L on Spilliaert (1881-1946) stehen im Fokus der Ausstellung im Clemens Sels Museum Neuss. Der Katalog zur Ausstellung Gewagte Visionen ? George Minne und L on Spilliaert. Jahrhunderts nachgegangen.
