‎ Malines ( Mechelen ) , chez Jean Jaye, Imprimeur juré, small in-4°, 20 x 14 cm, 36 pp ( irregular page numbering: pp. 1, 2, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14(blank), 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20 (blank), are unnumbered. Bound in a later half cloth binding, pp.3/4 loose, title page with some thumbing. With the printed ex-libris of the Mechelen printer Willy Godenne. Rare court judgement of a lawsuit between the municipal authorities of Mechelen and the Roman Catholic church on the procedures and costs of funerals. A funeral was obviously a very complicated and strictly regulated business in the 17th c. Roman Catholic Netherlands. The document ends with a new regulation ( 12 pp !) stipulating at least 5 classes of funerals. A 1st class funeral involves the payment of 45 ( ! ) different invoices for 45 different funeral activities.‎
