‎De vondst van een oude doos aquarelverf op zolder volstond om Julie Loeckx weer aan het schilderen te krijgen. Als kind had ze naschools kunstonderwijs gevolgd, maar later koos ze toch voor een opleiding in stedenbouw en landschapsarchitectuur. Finaal zou ze ook carri re in de projectontwikkeling maken. Reliure en plein parchemin. Gardes changées. Il s'agit d'un pamphlet dans lequel l'auteur attaque et ridiculise les principaux médecins de l'époque, et expose les grands traits de sa doctrine matérialiste. Le livre fut condamné à être lacéré et brûlé par arrêt du Parlement du 9 juillet 1746. On oublie trop souvent que La Mettrie fut lui-même médecin militaire avant d'être contraint d'abandonner son poste et de s'expatrier en raison de ses publications. Au travers d'une fiction dans laquelle un voyageur s'embarque pour la Chine pour y étudier la médecine et les médecins chinois, satire de la médecine contemporaine et de ses médecins; l'ouvrage est censé être une traduction du chinois d'un grand manuscrit de médecine. Toutes les éditions anciennes de ce texte sont aujourd'hui devenues rares.
