Edition originale de la traduction (pas de grand papier annoncé, service de presse), enrichie d'un bel ENVOI autographe signé (en italien) à Adeline E. Auscher, qui traduisit le premier roman de l'auteur (Les Hommes gris, 1937) et deux des huit nouvelles ici rassemblées. "Les Hommes gris" fut remarqué par Valery Larbaud, qui participa à sa publication en France, et salué par Maurice Blanchot, James Joyce, Ramon Fernandez et Jean Paulhan comme le premier exemple de monologue intérieur. Les nouvelles ici rassemblées sont construites selon le même modèle du monologue intérieur et présentées par Eugène Bestaux comme un "défi" littéraire. Ettore Settanni fut également associé à la traduction italienne de Finnegans Wake. Très rare. Bel exemplaire (papier légèrement bruni).

Het Rijksmuseum gaat verbouwen. Na ruim een een eeuw intensief gebruik van Pierre Cuypers? creatie aan het Amsterdamse Museumplein is een ingrijpende renovatie noodzakelijk. In de loop der jaren is, vooral aan het interieur, zoveel gesleuteld dat van Cuypers? originele ontwerp weinig over is. Aan de buitenkant bleven de gevels glorieus bewaard, maar de binnenkant van de meer dan honderdjarige toont duidelijk de littekens van vele grote en kleine operaties, slechts zelden verzacht door plastische chirurgie. Tijdens de komende verbouwing zullen de Spaanse architecten Cruz en Ortiz de oorspronkelijke structuur voor een groot deel herstellen. Aan de vooravond van de grootscheepse renovatie namen auteur en fotograaf Barbara en Rene Stoeltie een kijkje voor en achter de schermen. De Stoelties genieten internationale bekendheid door hun baanbrekende werk in het vastleggen van interieurs. Ze reizen de wereld over op zoek naar de boeiendste interieurs, die zij vervolgens op hun eigen karaktervolle wijze fotograferen en beschrijven. In hun werk draait het veel meer om details en associaties dan om een precieze registratie van all onderdelen van een interieur. Barbara en Rene Stoeltie maakten een fotoboek over het interieur van het Rijksmuseum en kijken terug naar het museum dat we allen kennen en dat we zullen missen. Volgens directeur Ronald de Leeuw hebben zij een scherp oog voor de dingen waar velen omheen kijken. Zij zagen de schoonheid van het museum, maar ook de onvolkomenheden. In indringende beeelden legden zij zowel de sleetsheid als de indrukwekkende pracht vast. Met opvallende foto?s en aanstekelijke teksten geven ze een prachtig en ook persoonlijk beeld van dit wereldberoemde gebouw.
