‎G.A. (Gerrit) van Arkel (Loenen aan de Vecht 1858-Amsterdam 1918) begon zijn carri re in 1876 op het bureau van G.B. Salm, maar al op 23-jarige leeftijd startte hij met een compagnon een eigen architectenfirma. Van Arkel is de architect van een groot aantal beeldbepalende panden in Amsterdam: woon-en winkelpanden en kantoor-, bank-, bedrijfs- en fabrieksgebouwen. Buiten de hoofdstad realiseerde hij enkele villa?s. Van Arkel werkte aanvankelijk in een drukke, rijk gedecoreerde eclectische stijl, maar omstreeks 1894 ging hij over op de typisch Nederlandse variant van de art nouveau, die ook wel Nieuwe Kunst wordt genoemd. Een van zijn bekendste werken is de Diamantwerkersbeurs aan het Weesperplein in Amsterdam, uit 1910. Michiel Kruidenier (1971) studeerde architectuurgeschiedenis aan de Universiteit van Amsterdam, met als specialisatie volkshuisvesting. Sinds 1995 heeft hij zijn eigen onderzoeks- en adviesbureau. Daarnaast is hij actief als redacteur en tekstschrijver. Hij publiceerde diverse boeken op het gebied van twintigste-eeuwse architectuur.‎

TEXT IN ENGLISH Leblanc was co-founder of G58, he came into contact with the international avant-garde, such as the German Zero group (1958-1966), Nul from the Netherlands (1960-1965) and became a member of the international movement Nouvelle Tendance (1961- 1968). In 1959, Leblanc introduced torsion as a basic element in his work. In the Twisted Strings, twisted cotton threads were stretched on a monochrome, usually white, surface. Depending on the movement of the spectator and the varying incidence of light on the relief, a vibrating, optical effect is created in the eye of the participant.
