‎Leblanc a été co-fondateur de G58, il est entré en contact avec l'avant-garde internationale, comme le groupe allemand Zero (1958-1966), Nul des Pays-Bas (1960-1965) et est devenu membre du mouvement international Nouvelle Tendance (1961- 1968) En 1959, Leblanc introduit la torsion comme élément de base dans son ?uvre. Dans les Twisted Strings, des fils de coton torsadés étaient tendus sur une surface monochrome, généralement blanche. En fonction du mouvement du spectateur et de l'incidence variable de la lumière sur le relief, un effet d'optique vibrant se crée dans l'?il du participant. Dans les Mobilo Static, les fils de coton ont été remplacés par des rubans en polyvinyle bicolore. Les Torsions se sont ensuite développées en sculptures autoportantes en métal laqué ou en bois. En 1975, les Archétypes, séries programmées, sont créées dans lesquelles Leblanc explore les possibilités de combinaison de formes géométriques de base, telles que le triangle, le carré, le cercle et leurs dérivés à travers des dessins et des sculptures en acier oxydé. Dans toute l'?uvre de l'artiste, on a tendance à sortir des sentiers battus. Dans les Archétypes, cela s'accompagne d'une monumentalité croissante qui atteint son paroxysme avec l'intégration architecturale dans Simonis (station de métro) à Bruxelles (1981-1986).
