Deventer gilt als der Vater der modernen Geburtshilfe. Als Praktiker in seiner Heimatstadt Den Haag interessierte er sich in erster Linie für die Orthopädie im Zusammenhang mit den Beckenknochen. Er beschreibt viele verschiedene Fälle schwieriger Geburten. Seine Beobachtungen der Beckendeformationen schildert er erstmals 1696 in einer holländischen Ausgabe. 1709 folgte eine Übersetzung des hier vorliegenden Teils in Latein. – Ohne das Porträt. Das Anonyma des Herausgebers wurde nie aufgelöst. Fatio (1649-1691) studierte in Valence. Er wurde in Basel von der Universität als Kurpfuscher betitelt , obwohl er als Chirurg und Geburtshelfer eine erfolgreiche Praxis betrieb. 1691 wurde Fatio aus politischen Gründen auf dem Marktplatz in Basel geköpft. Er hatte sich einer Verschwörung gegen das Basler Patriziat angeschlossen. Hinterer fliegender Vorsatz mit einem engagierten handschriftlichen Lebenslauf des Verfassers, verfasst am 25. Nov. 1896 durch Frau Liseli Linder-Bader. - Nebst einer Kupfertafel fehlt das Portait von G.D. Heumann. - Durchgehend etwas gebräunt und fingerfleckig. Vorsätze stärker stockfleckig. Er starb 1678 in seiner Heimatstadt Padua. Der Buchbinder muss die beiden Titelblätter verwechselt haben: Wir können (bei Wellcome) eine, in Pagination und Erscheinungsjahr identische Ausgabe für das "Consultationum" nachweisen. Hingegen ist die Ausgabe von "De febris et morbis mulierum" mit dem Erscheinungsjahr 1691 nicht nachweisbar. ‎Prima edizione del 1668 di questo celebre trattato sulle malattie delle donne in sovrappeso e in gravidanza scritto dal chirurgo Francois Mauriceau (1637-1709) considerato come il miglior ostetrico dei suoi tempi grazie ai suoi accurati studi sul feto, l'utero gravido, la pelvi femminile e tecniche del parto. Mauriceau fu il primo a pubblicare opere metodiche e pratiche sulla gravidanza e la prima infanzia. All'interno dettagliata descrizione delle parti ginecologiche della donna, i metodi per aiutare i parti naturali e i mezzi per rimediare a quelli contro natura con descrizione delle patologie dei neonati. Contrario al parto cesareo e al forpice, indica la tecnica per far cambiare posizione ai bambini podalici. Introdusse inoltre il letto per il parto al posto della sedia ostetrica. Antiche note manoscritte e timbro di appartenenza al frontespizio. Finissima incisione in antiporta incisa da Guillaume Vallet (1632-1704) su disegno di Paillet e incisioni nel testo, qualcuna a piena pagina. In discrete condizioni. Copertina in piena pelle coeva con titolo in oro al dorso in mediocri condizioni con usure e mancanze. Legatura in buone condizioni. First edition of 1668 of this famosu treaty about the deseases of fat and delivered women by the surgeon Francois Mauriceau (1637-1709) consdiered as the best obstetric of his times thanks also to his accurate studies on phetus, pregnant utero, femal pelvis and technique of delivery. Mauriceau was the first one to publish methodical and practical work about pregnancy and childhood. Inside a detailed description of ginecological parts of women, the methods to help natural deliveries and the remedies for deliveries aganist nature with description of deseases of newborns. Contrary to the delivery and forcips, he indicates the technique to change the position to podalic children. he also introduced the bed instead of obstetric chair. Antique handwritten notes and stamp in the title page. Very fine engraving in the frontspice engraved by Guillaume Vallet (1632-1704) after Paillet and engravings in the text some of them are full-page illustrations. In fair conditions.
