‎The Calouste Gulbenkian Museum in Lisboa presents on permanent exhibition a group of 120 paintings dating from the 15th to the late 19th century, that is studied in this lavishly illustrated publication. Particularly rich is the section on 15th century Flemish religious works by Van der Weyden as by the Florentine and Venetian masters like Ghirlandaio and Carpaccio. From the golden age of Dutch painting, the collection includes two canvases by Rembrandt and the magnificent Portrait of Helena Fourment, by Rubens. The collection's section of 18th century French painting corresponds to museum's extensive interest in the art produced in France in that era. Special mention must be given to works by Fragonard, and Quentin de La Tour, among others. From the first half of the 19th century works by Turner stand out.
