‎Summary Depuis quelques dizaines d'années, les éditions critiques des oeuvres de compositeurs français des XVIIe et XVIIIe siècles et les études dévolues à des collections musicales manuscrites ont été l'occasion d'étudier la graphie des copistes en musique, sans disposer pour autant d'une vue d'ensemble de leur production. C'est pour remédier à cette situation que le projet AteCop (Les ateliers de copistes en musique français jusque vers 1730) a été lancé. Le présent volume, prélude à un répertoire des copistes qui paraîtra par la suite, est un des résultats de ce projet, regroupant plusieurs études présentées lors d'un séminaire international tenu au Centre de musique baroque de Versailles et à l'Institut de recherche en musicologie en 2021. La diversité des statuts et des rôles du copiste en musique y apparaît clairement, celui-ci pouvant être également compositeur, collectionneur, collecteur et arrangeur, bibliothécaire ou éditeur, travaillant seul ou en équipe, dans un atelier privé ou intégré à une institution. ‎Summary ?The mappae mundi exist in scores of manuscripts and much work needs to be done before secure generalizations may be based upon them?, wrote the English historian Denys Hay in 1957. Taking these data into account will enable specialists to define precisely the reasons that contributed to the creation of these drawings.
