‎Summary It is only in recent years that Byzantine poetry - a long-neglected aspect of Byzantine literature - has attracted the attention of philologists, literary and cultural historians. This holds true especially for the poetry written in middle and late Byzantium.Though many collections of poems are available in modern critical editions, a considerable amount of texts still remains completely unedited or accessible only in outdated and unreliable editions. Moreover, many works of this period have never been studied thoroughly with regard to their cultural impact on society. Issues of authorship and patronage, function, literary motives, generic qualities, and manuscripts still await further study. This volume aims to take a step to fill this gap. Although it includes studies on poetry from the early tenth to the fifteenth centuries, the main focus is placed on the Komnenian and Palaeologan times. It presents editions of completely unknown texts, such as a twelfth-century cycle of epigrams on John Klimax. It includes studies on various types of poetry, including didactic, occasional, and even poetry written for liturgical purposes. By analysing these works and placing them within their literary and socio-cultural context, we can draw conclusions about the cultural tastes of the Byzantines and acquire a more nuanced picture of middle and late Byzantine poetry. ‎Summary Baroness Angela Burdett-Coutts (1814-1906), descendant of a wealthy and well-known family of bankers, inherited quite young, through a series of unpredictable circumstances, the enormous fortune of Thomas Coutts, her maternal grand-father. She spent most of her long life in London, where she occupied a prominent position in society, becoming well-known not only for her splendid life-style and her important literary and political acquaintances, as, for instance, Charles Dickens and Admiral Nelson, but also for her active role as a philanthropist. This book explores a little-known side of her life; although she did not know Greek, she became the owner of ca. 100 Greek manuscripts, mostly theological, datable between the tenth and the sixteenth century, a part of which she donated to Highgate School. The manuscripts, with all the Baroness's possessions, were dispersed at auction in 1921 and in 1987 and are now mainly divided between American and European University Libraries. This book has identified for the first time the Baroness's Greek manuscripts, located and described them in detail, with special attention to their script style and their origin, adding to their description one or two plates of each codex. ‎Summary This monograph is the first study to highlight the plasticity of the figure of Pilate across Christian literature of the first millennium, as transmitted in Greek, Latin, Coptic, Syriac, Ge'ez, Armenian, Georgian, Slavic and Arabic. The name of the person Pilate is present in the memoirs and in the confessions of faith for the role of this Roman praefectus of Judea in the central event of Christianity which is the death sentence of Jesus of Nazareth. However, we only know his character as it was constructed by the authors of the first century - the Jewish writers, the authors of the Gospels which have become canonical or of the texts called apocrypha. It is from these sources that the authors of the patristic period elaborate figures of Pilate based on their analysis of his role in the Passion. Like the emperor depicted in the apocryphal texts, they in turn put Pilate on trial: how could the human judge judge the Judge of the universe? Who is responsible for the death of Jesus? Even though it is very largely sullied in the medieval West, the triune figure of Pilate as governor, judge and Roman is enriched with the features of the informant, of the evangelizer of the emperor, and even of the martyr and the saint. Cette monographie est la première étude mettant en évidence la plasticité de la figure de Pilate à travers la littérature chrétienne du premier millénaire, transmise en grec, latin, copte, syriaque, guèze, arménien, géorgien, slave et arabe. Le nom de la personne Pilate est présent dans les mémoires et dans les confessions de foi pour le rôle de ce préfet romain de Judée dans l'événement central du christianisme qu'est la condamnation à mort de Jésus de Nazareth. Les actes du colloque international « Le destin d'un manuscrit. Du vice et de la vertu : de Constantinople à Tours, via Chypre », tenu à Tours en 2021, rassemblent les contributions de spécialistes venus d'horizons variés. À travers des approches croisées - philologiques, historiques, codicologiques -, ils éclairent la genèse, les usages, les pérégrinations et les réappropriations successives de ce témoin précieux de l'érudition byzantine.
