In de kluis van de Universiteitsbibliotheek Nijmegen bevindt zich de collectie handschriften uit de bibliotheek van het voormalige 18de-eeuwse Augustinessenklooster Soeterbeeck. Een groot deel van deze handschriften is zeer gehavend, een ander deel bestaat uit fragmenten. ‎ 1821-1886, in-8vo, 118 Bl. + 49 w. Bl. beschrieben mit Tinte in feiner deutscher Kurrentschrift (ca. 25 Zeilen/S.), Halbleder mit Ecken, goldgepr. Rücken, Rotschnitt und marmorierter Vorsatz, etwas fleckig und berieben, ansonsten guter Zustand.‎

‎Spannende Originalhandschrift mit einer Fülle an Material. Das persönliche Notizbuch einer Schaffhauserin, welche vielleicht mit Pfarrer Melchior Kirchhofer (1775-1853) verwandt ist. Die fromme und belesene Jeannette gibt ihren Namen mit dem Zusatz „zum goldenen Löwen“ an, was wohl ein Hinweis auf das Wohnhaus in der Schaffhauser Altstadt (heute das Haus Vordergasse 62) ist. In ihrem Büchlein schrieb sie zum einen Wissenswertes auf, benutzte es aber zeitweise auch als Tagebuch oder um Ereignisse in der Familie zu dokumentieren. Sie beginnt mit einer Liste von ,Wohltätern der Menschheit’: Martin Luther, Christian Fürchtegott Gellert, Johann Caspar Lavater, Joachim Heinrich Campe, Johann Heinrich Pestallozi (sic), Johannes Hubner; Christian Gottfried Schütz, Johann Gottfried Herder. Ein Hinweis auf die Geisteswelt der Schreiberin. Sie notierte fromme Reden (auch solche der ,Seherinnen’ A.M. Heller und A. Schneider, 1823), Gebete, Glückwünsche, Zitate vom Abbé de la Tour, Lavater und Zinzendorf, sowie der schottischen Dichterin Grace Kennedy (in deutscher Übersetzung). Dazwischen beschrieb sie ab 1840 bis 1850 die schulische Laufbahn und die Konfirmationen ihrer Kinder, deren sie fünf hatte. Auch die Krankheiten und Leiden ihrer Familie werden genau festgehalten bishin zum frühen Tod ihres an Wassersucht leidenden Sohnes Carl. Die Familie scheint viele Verbindungen mit Baden-Würtemberg besessen zu haben, so reist man öfters nach Stuttgart und Jeannette notierte auch die Rede des Stuttgarter Stadtpfarrers bei der Beerdigung einer Freundin. Aber auch der Besuch einer Hochzeit in Langenthal wird mit Liebe zum Detail beschrieben. Es folgen Hausrezepte für die Behandlung von Bleichsucht und Rheumatismus, die Reinigung der Bettfedern mit Dampf oder die Zubereitung eines Tees „für Unreinigkeiten im Gesicht“ usw. Die Aufzeichnungen sind nicht immer chronologisch, enden aber mit einer Bibliografie empfohlener Schriften und einigen Adresseinträgen. Image disp.‎

La carte postale représente un équipage de marins devant un paquebot dans la rade du port de Toulon et elle concerne une autre de ses pièces qu'il rédige depuis le sud de la France : "quelques scènes ardentes de cette "Sergine" au titre provisoire, mais au scénario bien définitif, Dieu Merci !". Il fait ici allusion à l'actrice Véra Sergine (1884-1946). ‎

‎From the Treasure-House of Scripture presents the first comprehensive assessment of the relation between the Latin Bible and the text of the highly influential late-medieval devotional manual known as De Imitatione Christi (The Imitation of Christ). Consisting of a detailed analysis of scriptural sources in The Imitation, this work contains the complete Latin text of The Imitation juxtaposed against 3815 Vulgate source texts. Included are some 2600 sources collated from citations in seventy editions of The Imitation, and some 1200 sources newly identified in this study. A collation is presented of explicit statements in The Imitation on ?Scripture? and aspects of lectio divina (?prayed reading?). The textual analysis highlights several aspects of the relation between The Imitation and the Vulgate. First, some fifty ?forms of usage? of scriptural passages in The Imitation are described. Secondly, some three hundred scriptural passages important in informing the overall content of The Imitation are identified. Thirdly, the role of scriptural sources in helping to shape the ascetic character of The Imitation is discussed. ‎Traduction manuscrite, rédigée d'une main très lisible, d'importants extraits d'écrits de l'allemand Joann Georg Kohl sur Saint-Pétersbourg et sur Moscou. Considéré comme l'un des fondateurs de la géographie théorique, Johann Georg Kohl (1808-1878) parcourut la Russie puis l'Europe avant d'élaborer, en s'appuyant sur l'exemple de Moscou, une théorie du développement des villes dites « sphériques ». Partant du principe que les villes sont établies dans le but de faciliter les échanges commerciaux, Kohl avance qu'elles sont façonnées par les transformations du marché et des transports. Aussi prédit-il l'apparition de gratte-ciels et de centres commerciaux souterrains. Les réflexions de Kohl sur ses voyages en Russie parurent en anglais sous le titre de Russia and the Russians en 1842 ; elles sont cependant encore inédites en France. Un premier cahier de 10 ff. manuscrits sur Moscou et leur remise au propre avec quelques corrections, inachevée, témoignent des étapes du travail effectué par l'éditeur/traducteur anonyme. Ce-dernier déclare, dans une préface, chercher à condenser « neuf volumes [formant] quatre ouvrages » de l'oeuvre du géographe allemand. Il pourrait s'agir ici des 4 ouvrages sur Saint Petersbourg publiés en allemand par Kohl en 1840, Der Petersburger Winter, Der Petersburger Fiaker, Rußland. Die Theebuden in St. Petersburg et Rußland. Das Petersburger Irrenhaus. Ouvrages qui auraient servi à l'élaboration de Russia and the Russians. Au final, ce serait près de 70% dudit ouvrage que l'on découvre ici pour la première fois en français. Il conviendrait bien sûr d'étudier plus avant la teneur et la composition du manuscrit et des différents ouvrages de l'auteur. L'intérêt de l'auteur pour l'urbanisme transparaît déjà dans ces notes de voyage : à rebours des écrivains de l'époque qui dépeignent Moscou comme l'une des villes les plus irrégulièrement bâties du monde, Kohl met en évidence la logique de sa structure. Si son approche est mathématique, l'écriture, elle, reflète son amour du pays : la Moskva « est une nymphe maigre et frêle » et les coupoles or et argent des bâtiments « forment une couronne au sommet du Kremlin ». Mais Kohl, qui contrairement à la plupart des voyageurs du XIXe siècle maîtrisait le russe, brille également par son analyse des coutumes et des moeurs. Ses écrits témoignent en effet d'une curiosité quasi-ethnographique : porté à s'intéresser à toutes les classes sociales, des dames de la cour au « peuple noir » en passant par les domestiques, l'auteur rend compte de sujets aussi variés que l'architecture, la cuisine, la mode, l'industrie, le culte, ou encore les moyens de transport. ‎Gedichte und Texte verschiedener Autoren (Friedrich Barth, Schiller, Herder, Klopstock, Goethe, Kleist u.a., gefolgt von einem Teil 'Briefe von W. Krafft an seine Mutter', welcher mit einem Schreiben von 1844 beginnt und insgesamt 5 Briefe im Wortlaut wiedergibt. Diese sind Berichte von einer Studienreise durch verschiedene Regionen Deutschlands, dann nach Griechenland (unterwegs Besuch von Winkelmanns Grab in Triest) und per Schiff auf den afrikanischen Kontinent. Im letzten Brief gibt er seine Anschrift mit 'Kairo, Egypten' an. Es handelt sich sehr wahrscheinlich um Wilhelm Ludwig Krafft (1821 - 1897), welcher nach dieser Reise 1846 mit einer Arbeit zur Topographie Jerusalems habilitierte, ab 1850 als Theologieprofessor in Bonn tätig war und der vor allem für sein Wirken als Leiter des evangelisch-theolog. ‎EDITION ORIGINALE de ces 21 poèmes d'Henri Kréa reproduits en fac-simile du manuscrit occultés par l'interposition de 21 dessins de Ferró. Tirage à 500 exemplaires numérotés. UN DES 30 PREMIERS sur papier Coronado Lys de Gand, signés par l'auteur et l'artiste, comprenant un DESSIN original à l'encre de Chine de FERRO, signé et daté. Le dessin de Ferró couvre la page blanche intercalée entre le premier et le second poème. ->>>>Ferró, de son vrai nom Gudmundur Gudmunsson dût changer de nom à la suite du procès que lui intenta en 1967 un autre artiste portant le même patronyme, et devint Erró. C'est par l'intermédiaire de Jean-Jacques Lebel que l'artiste rencontra Henri Kréa en 1956 à Florence. En 1960, il réalisera le portrait du jeune poète. Au printemps de cette même année, un de ses poèmes fut illustré par l'artiste dans le numéro spécial de la revue L'Arc publié à Aix-en-Provence et consacré à la peinture. Kréa y écrivait : "La peinture de ce curieux Islandais n'est pas le vain reflet des temps futurs. Réellement nous sommes au coeur de cette moderne apocalypse où les êtres de science-fiction trébuchent de leurs derniers pas d'homoncules. Heureusement l'espoir s'épanouit, rare. Seule est cause de cette métamorphose la lumière de Toscane où ce fils de Thulé a découvert la terre, le ciel mis à nu par l'homme méditerranéen. L'osmose est tout de même terrifiante. Mais il importe que la beauté anticipe notre renaissance". Le 20 janvier 1962 à Liège, sous le patronage de la revue L'Essai, la galerie Jean Dols organise la première exposition de Erro en Belgique. C'est à cette occasion qu'il illustre de 21 dessins exécutés en 1959 le recueil de poèmes de Kréa OCCULTATIONS, que la revue édite. Très bon exemplaire 0‎
