Il étudia à la Royal Académy et illustra de nombreux ouvrages dans lesquels il utilise le plus souvent le noir et blanc. Ses dessins sont proches du style de Walter CRANE et de BEARDSLEY. Il est connu pour ses dessins de machines absurdes dont la fameuse machine à trouer le gruyère... ‎"William Heath Robinson (1872-1944) est considéré comme l'un des plus grands illustrateurs anglais de la première moitié du 20e siècle. Son œuvre foisonnante, dans le domaine public depuis 2019, n'a jamais été traduite en France, nous avons adapté l'un de ses chefs d'œuvre « How to live in a flat » (texte original de KRG Browne) daté de 1937 avec un texte inédit de Jean-Luc Coudray sur les joies du confinement dans un appartement, nous avons confié la mise en couleurs à Isabelle Merlet , l'une des plus fine coloriste de l'époque et l'adaptation graphique à Philippe Poirier un graphiste esthète et grand spécialiste des illustrateurs de l'âge d'or anglo-saxons (et à l'initiative d'une première collection parue aux éditions des Moutons électriques). L'éditeur a souhaité réunir ces trois talents , dont l'esprit facétieux se marie parfaitement avec l'humour anglais et le non-sens de WHR et dont la thématique du livre résonne étonnamment avec l'actualité." Vélin rigide dédition, composition florale vert et rouge sur fond doré et auteur et titre en lettres dorées sur le premier plat, dos lisse orné, rubans de soie, tête dorée, non rogné.‎

‎Première édition séparée, illustrée de nombreuses compositions en noir dans le texte et de 30 planches contrecollées en couleurs, dont le frontispice, de lillustrateur londonien William Heath ROBINSON (1872-1944). Lédition a été imprimée à 500 exemplaires numérotés et signés par lartiste (n°333). Le recueil de poèmes de Kipling, A Song of the English, contient ses "Songs of the Cities" : Bombay, Calcutta, Madras, Rangoon, Singapore, Hong Kong, Québec, Montréal, Halifax, Sydney et Melbourne, en plus de ses Song of the Dead, Song of the Sons et Coastwise Lights. ‎
