‎Summary Il libro raccoglie una serie di contributi che scaturiscono dallo scavo e dallo studio della villa romana di San Marco sull'isola d'Elba, dei suoi reperti e del suo contesto storico ed ambientale. I ritrovamenti archeologici sono pertinenti un periodo molto ristretto di vita dell'insediamento, all'incirca tra il II secolo a.C e il II secolo d.C., quando la villa fu verosimilmente distrutta da un'incendio. Tale drammatico evento ha permesso la conservazione straordinaria di una serie di reperti organici (come la travatura di un solaio), attraverso i quali è stato possibile procedere ad una ricostruzione dettagliata della planimetria e degli elevati dell'edificio. Lo studio poi delle incredibili decorazioni pittoriche, insieme ad i ritrovamenti epigrafici, hanno permesso di attribuire la villa ad una delle proprietà dell'importante famiglia senatoria dei Valerii. ‎Posture Editions and Laura Van worked on SEX WITH PAINT, a publication with recent still lifes by Van. The works, for which the artist uses only oils, are without photographic point of departure: they are the result of an inflection of what the artist observes on the table in his living and working space. They are therefore anecdotal-autobiographical in nature?a nature that is emphatically determined by the motorial and psychological intentions of the moment. Each still life is an accumulation of language, anecdotal elements, coffee, pages, stains, dots and modulations of tonal depths and shades of grey. Laura van?s art is an eruption of thoughts about painting, channelled in oils that evoke the illusion of piles of books and grubby tables. The grey, drab paintings are outside time. We notice traces of French painters such as Corot, Vuillard, Soutine, Cézanne or the German Corinth, though that may be a mistake, a paintwise trompe l?oeil. On the opposite page, facing the paintings, a voice-over text has been printed: Laura as it were comments on the paintings, while he also seems to shuffle the piled-up books. Laura (b. 1957) was almost 30 years the artistic director of croxhapox, based in Ghent, Belgium.‎

Rare édition originale, surtout dans un tel état de fraicheur, proche du neuf. Exceptionnel exemplaire enrichi de 5 autographes signés par Peter Cheyney, de son épouse Lauretta Singer Groves, signée Laura Cheyney, de Georges Vialetay, du Commissaire Jules Belin et de Pierre Dac, signée Peter Dac. Le nom du destinataire est illisible. Il est joint une très rare carte postale Editeur, au format 8,7 x 14 cm, avec au recto une photo en noir de Peter Cheyney et au verso un texte composé uniquement par des titres de romans de l'auteur, publiés aux Presses de la Cité. A noter que Pierre Dac, une des voix de la France Libre à Londres en 1943-1944 à la B.B.C, dans l’émission " Les Français parlent aux Français ", avait rencontré Peter Cheyney qui était à Londres à cette époque, en tant que formateur, dans les Services Secrets anglais. Magnifique lot.‎
