First edition of this highly esteemed French adaptation and translation of Quintilian’s De oratoria institutione libri XII by the professor of rhetoric Nicolas Gédoyn (1667-1744). Gedoyn’s performance containing many allusions to contemporaries, “deserves great praise; he seems to have been extremely anxious to express the sense of his author, and is said to have spent ten years over his task ...
