‎---- PREMIERE EDITION FRANCAISE ---- "Frederick Soddy had coined the term Isotopes for elements that are homogeneous in chemical behavior. J.J. Thomson carried this investigation and suggestion on very important stage further. In 1919 F.A. ASTON (1877/1945) built this first mass spectograph in Cavendish laboratory, in which these great improvements in the Thomson technique for determining the mass of positive ions, were incorporated. This very first instrument, one of the great achievements in the history of nuclear physics, is now in the Science Museum. For his basic work in atomic physics, ASTON was awarded the Nobel Prize in chemistry in 1922". (DSB I)**175.M4‎
