‎Joli album de 81 photographies damateur prises par un voyageur au cours de son périple au moyen orient entre les deux guerres mondiales, à lépoque du mandat français en Syrie et au Liban (1923-1946), l'un des deux mandats, avec celui des Britanniques en Palestine, institués par la Société des Nations (SDN). Lalbum débute par un feuillet ou notre voyageur anonyme a dessiné une carte des régions et des villes visitées et rédigé un texte explicatif sur Palmyre, Baalbek et Alep. Il a titré ses photographies en dessous à lencre noire : Paysages montagneux du Liban, intérieurs de grotte, habitants du Liban, ruines dun monastère détruit par les turcs, Abla : intérieur dune église, Tebnine, Zahleh, Baalbeck (Anc. Héliopolis): Temple du soleil, Zahleh (Vigne), Beyrouth et ses environs : Vallée du Chien et en haut cèdres du Liban, Pont sur le Chien, Beyrouth, les navires « Braga » et « Armabérique », Beyrouth : fête des régiments, vues de la ville et de ses rues, Bédouin, Sous-intendance, Rasbaalbeck, Palmyre aujourdhui Tadmor: ruines du temple, fresque et dalle du tombeau de la reine Zénobie, Alexandrie : la ville, lévêque ; Damas : place Hedgaz, marché, palais du gouverneur, intérieur dun café, Alep, terrain daviation de Rayak (Beyrouth). Ensemble en parfait état. 1 oblong volume 4to (230 x 320 mm) comprising: [1] text page and [9] cardboard pages containing 81 silver print photographs (80 x 55 mm and 110 x 80 mm). Period album covered in brown embossed paper imitating scales, smooth spine, silk cord holding the pages together. A beautiful album of 81 amateur photographs taken by a traveler during his journey to the Middle East between the two world wars, during the French mandate in Syria and Lebanon (1923-1946), one of two mandates, along with the British mandate in Palestine, established by the League of Nations. The album begins with a page on which our anonymous traveler has drawn a map of the regions and cities visited and written an explanatory text on Palmyra, Baalbek, and Aleppo. He has captioned his photographs below in black ink: Mountain landscapes of Lebanon, cave interiors, inhabitants of Lebanon, ruins of a monastery destroyed by the Turks, Abla: interior of a church, Tebnine, Zahleh, Baalbeck (formerly Heliopolis): Temple of the Sun, Zahleh (Vineyard), Beirut and its surroundings: Valley of the Dog and the tall cedars of Lebanon, Bridge over the Dog, Beirut, the ships Braga and Armabérique, Beirut: regimental celebrations, views of the city and its streets, Bedouin, Sub-Intendance, Rasbaalbeck, Palmyra, now Tadmor: temple ruins, fresco and slab from the tomb of Queen Zenobia, Alexandria: the city, the bishop; Damascus: Hedgaz Square, market, governor's palace, interior of a café, Aleppo, Rayak airfield (Beirut). All in perfect condition.‎
