Demi-marocain rouge à coins, plats recouverts de papier marbré, dos à nerfs orné et titré, percaline bleue estampée à froid, titre doré «Album pour collection» et orné avec encadrement sur le premier plat, dos lisse.‎

‎Impressionnant alguier dauteur inconnu regroupant un total de 325 algues. Tel quannoncé sur la page de titre, ces espèces ont été prélevées sur le littoral de Royan en Charente inférieure. Ce travail colossal est divisé en deux partie: une première intitulée «Notions élémentaires sur les algues marines» et une seconde intitulée «Collection et description des plantes produites dans le présent opuscule». La première partie qui se veut être un cours introductif à la botanique algues est divisée en 4 chapitres: «1. Recherche et récolte des algues», «2. Traitement et application des plantes», «3. Définition des algues marines, leur structure, leur mode de reproduction et de nutrition», «4. Généralités sur les algues marines, leurs couleurs, leur formes, leur utilité et leur rôle dans la nature», «5. Collection et description des plantes produites dans le présent opuscule». La seconde partie, beaucoup plus longue, est quant à elle dédiée aux spécimens prélevés dans les environs de Royan. Lensemble est organisé en classe (ex: «Les Frondosées»), tribus (ex: «Les Ulvassées»), genres et espèces (ex: «Chondrus crépu, Chondrus crispis»), le plus souvent avec nom vernaculaire et scientifique. Les 325 spécimens bien conservés et titrés sont disposés en regard dune description très complète. Lensemble est écrit à lencre noire dune écriture très lisible et paginé. Impressive alguier of unknown author gathering a total of 325 seaweeds. As announced on the title page, these species were collected on the coast of Royan in the lower Charente. This colossal work is divided into two parts: the first entitled "Basic notions on marine algae" and the second entitled "Collection and description of the plants produced in this booklet". The first part, which is an introductory course on seaweed botany, is divided into four chapters: "1. search for and collection of seaweeds", "2. treatment and application of plants", "3. definition of seaweeds, their structure, reproduction and nutrition", "4. general information on seaweeds, their colors, shapes, usefulness and role in nature", and "5. collection and description of the plants produced in this booklet". The second part, much longer, is dedicated to the specimens collected in the vicinity of Royan. The whole is organized in classes (e.g. "Les Frondosées"), tribes (e.g. "Les Ulvassées"), genera and species (e.g. "Chondrus crépu, Chondrus crispis"), most often with vernacular and scientific names. The 325 well-preserved and titled specimens are arranged opposite a very complete description. The whole is written in black ink in a very legible handwriting and paginated. Remarkable work well preserved and carried out with application.‎
