Berlin, Unger, 1795. 8vo. Uniformly bound in four contemporary half calf bindings with gilt lettering to spines. Previous owner's name to front free end-paper. Light wear to spines and hinges and internally with light occassional browning, but overall a good set. (2), 364 pp. + 3 folded plates with music scores 374 pp. + 2 folded plate with scores 371 pp. 507, (5) pp. (5 out the 8 often missing plates).
First edition of Goethe's second novel which had a huge influence on European literature. The work contains some of Goethe's best known songs which were accompanied by music scores (which are often missing, this copy has 5 out of the 8 scores). Hagen 221
