Paris Le Journal des Dames et des Modes 1820 Une belle collection de 131 gravures de mode joliment coloriées à la main tirées du "?Le Journal des Dames et des Modes de l'Empire...". Sans texte explicatif. Chaque assiette est intitulée "Costumes Parisiens". La première planche est datée d'un 12 (1803) la dernière est de 1830. La reliure quart de cuir contemporaine a un dos rouge foncé avec des motifs et des titres dorés. planches en tissu rouge. Un peu frottant aux deux. L'intérieur des planches est en bon état, propre, avec quelques piqûres ici et là. Une très belle collection. Chaque assiette est colorée à la main. Ils mesurent 110 sur 118 mm. Le « Journal des dames et des modes » s'inspire de la « Revue de La Mésangère ». (Colas 1565 ; Lipperheide, zb 15 ; Hiler, 486). "Commencé en juin 1797, ce journal fut continué sans interruption jusqu'à la fin de 1829. Tous les cinq jours paraissait un numéro avec une belle figure colorée représentant un costume, et le numéro du 15 de chaque mois contenait même deux planches, ce qui faisait 72 émissions de 84 planches pour toute l'année, dont le prix était de 35 fr." (Brunet, III, 795). Cette publication, au format in-8, était accompagnée de gravures de mode intitulées 'Costumes parisiens'. Fondée par le libraire Séllèque et Mme Clément, avec La Mésangère comme collaboratrice pour les gravures. Ce périodique parut sous plusieurs noms : Journal des dames, Costumes parisiens, Journal des modes ou Journal des dames, Journal de la Mésangère et enfin Gazette des salons pour ses derniers numéros.
A lovely collection of 131 beautifully hand coloured fashion engravings from "?Le Journal des Dames et des Modes de l'Empire..." Without any explanatory text. Each plate is entitled "Costumes Parisiens." The first plate is dated 12 (1803) the last is from 1830. The contemporary quarter leather binding has a deep red spine with gilt design and titles. red cloth boards. A little rubbing to both. Inside the plates are in good, clean condition, with a few foxing spots here and there. A very nice collection. Each plate is hand coloured. They measure 110 by 118mm (4Œ by 4Ÿ inches) The "Journal des dames et des modes" was inspired by the "Revue de La Mésangère". (Colas 1565; Lipperheide, zb 15; Hiler, 486). "Begun in June 1797, this journal was continued without interruption until the end of 1829. Every five days an issue appeared with a beautiful colored figure representing a costume, and the issue for the 15th of each month even contained two plates, which made 72 issues with 84 plates for the whole year, the price of which was 35 fr." (Brunet, III, 795). This publication, octavo format, was accompanied by fashion engravings entitled 'Costumes parisiens'. Founded by the bookseller Séllèque and Mrs Clément, with La Mésangère as collaborator for the engravings. This periodical appeared under several names: Journal des dames, Costumes parisiens, Journal des modes or Journal des dames, Journal de la Mésangère and finally Gazette des salons for its last issues. .

Le journal hebdomadaire a été imprimé de juillet 1893 à août 1914. Il s'agissait d'un journal de gauche. Single issue - Dimanche 13 Juin 1909 - 4 pages. 46cm x 38cm. More a sheet of commentary and local interest than a newspaper. Complete, with adverts, records of long service, train announcements etc. Clean and tidy, with just a touch of darkening to the paper. A few light creases. The weekly newspaper was printed from July 1893 until August 1914. A left leaning paper. It's tagline was "democracy, liberty, universal suffrage, by the people, for the people" 500 by 380mm (19Ÿ by 15 inches). .
Le Nain Jaune Réfugié - IVme volume, ou Journal des Arts, des Sciences et de la Littérature
Bruxelles: Imprimerie de Fain 1816 Toile brune récente avec titres dorés. IVme Volume pour 1816 - 24 numéros. Le second semestre complet, y compris le rare numéro tricolore, qui a été publié en bleu, blanc et rouge. La reliure et les pages de garde sont impeccables. Le journal est propre et bien rangé, avec quelques pages non coupées. Légèrement noirci et quelques usures mineures sur les bords, mais dans l'ensemble, un excellent exemple. Le Nain Jaune était un journal politique pro-Bonaparte, ouvertement affiché au retour de Napoléon. Au second retour des Bourbons, le journal fut supprimé. En 1816, Cauchois-Lemaire s'était enfui en Belgique et le journal fut publié à partir de là. En novembre 1816, il fusionne avec le Mercure Surveillant pour devenir Le Libéral [ii]. 266 [ii] p. 230 x 150 mm
Recent brown cloth with gilt titles. IVme Volume for 1816 - 24 issues. The complete second half of the year, including the scarce Tricolour issue, which was published in blue, white and red. Binding and end papers are spotless. The newspaper is clean and tidy, with a few pages uncut. Slightly darkened and some minor edge wear, but overall an excellent example. Le Nain Jaune was a pro-Bonaparte political newspaper, openly displayed on Napoleon's return. At the second return of the Bourbons, the newspaper was suppressed. In 1816 Cauchois-Lemaire had fled to Belgium and the newspaper was published from there. In November 1816 it was merged with the Mercury Surveillant to become Le Liberal [ii]. 266 [ii] pp. 230 x 150 mm (9 x 6 inches). .

Articles on "The Catholic Question - Conduct of the Whigs", "Dublin aggregate meeting - a lay deputation to Rome", "Irish Gratitude to Dr. Milner.", "Observations on the advantages of a Conventual education", "On the causes of multitudinous Religion Sects in Britain", "On the State of feeling amongst Catholics." and several other smaller articles. This was a time of much agitation for Catholic emancipation, and this is reflected in these pages. A clean and tidy copy, without any significant flaws. Slight edge wear only. The register would suggest that this copy of the journal has come from a larger work. 325 - 364pp. 220 x 140 mm (8Ÿ x 5œ inches). William Eusebius Andrews (1773-1837) was a Roman Catholic journalist, and editor of several Catholic journals. This work ran from 1813 to 1820, when he was forced to suspend publication, despite support from Bishop Milner. He revived the journal in 1834, and it was continued after his death. Andrews was also the founder of several other (mainly short lived) Catholic journals, and "The Friends of Civil and Religious Liberty", a tract society.
