‎Cantaro, Maria Teresa: The rediscovered portrait of 'wild' Antonietta Gonzales. From Ulisse Aldrovandi Collection/ Il ritratto di Antonietta Gonzales 'salvatica' ritrovato. Dalla collezione di Ulisse Aldrovandi. 2024. 128 pages, illustrated. Paperback. 24 x 17cms. Account of Antonietta Gonzales' portrait, recently rediscovered beneath a 'Madonna and Child' painting in the style of Bernadino Luini. Through radiographic analysis, the study traces the portrait's provenance to Bolognese naturalist Ulisse Aldrovandi's collection (1522-1605), suggesting it was created by Lavinia Fontana (1552-1614). The book discusses the historical context, the rediscoverey of the portrait, and links to other known examples, such as a drawing in the Pierpont Morgan Library and the portrait in the Royal Museum of Blois. Text in English and Italian.‎
