Murphy 358. - Zweite unter dem Namen von Malone erschienene Ausgabe, wahrscheinlich nach 1790 gedruckt, mit der fingierten Jahreszahl 1786 für die Bände 2-7. Malone lehnte jede Verantwortung gegenüber dieser Ausgabe ab, die auf der 10-bändigen Ausgabe der Stücke und der Gedichte von 1790 beruht. Die Ausgabe von Malone gilt als die wichtigste des 18. Jahrhunderts. - Jeder Band mit gestochenem Exlibris des Berner Bankiers Ludwig Zeerleder auf den Innendeckeln. - Rücken leicht berieben. Band 7 mit 2 kleinen Einrissen an den Kapitalen. Vorsätze mit Leimschatten.- Malone, often considered the best of the century's editors of Shakespeare, wrote the first general consideration of English Renaissance theatre, utilizing resources like the records of the Master of the Revels and Edward Alleyn's papers at Dulwich College. He is also noted for his work on the problem of chronology.
