London London Stereoscope and Photographic Company Ltd 1889 Une collection attrayante de 25 photographies à l'albumine de Londres, photographiées et publiées par la London Stereoscope company. Original en tissu rouge avec des titres dorés sur le panneau avant. Il y a quelques bosses et des taches d'eau sur le panneau avant en particulier. La page de titre et certains bords de page sont un peu roussis, mais les images elles-mêmes sont en très bon état. Les pages sont reliées dans le style d'un album. Les images mesurent 13,5 x 21 cm chacune. Les monuments habituels de Londres sont tous représentés, dans des rues qui semblent très vides à l'il moderne, et peuplées de piétons, de chevaux et de calèches. L'album mesure 300 x 220 mm (11Ÿ x 8Ÿ pouces).
An attractive collection of 25 published albumen photographs of London, photographed and published by the London Stereoscope company. Original red cloth with gilt titles to the front board. There is some bumping and water staining to the front board particularly. The title page and some page edges are a little foxed, but the images themselves are in very good condition. The pages are each bound in, album style. This is weak in parts, and has been reinforced, but overall is sound. images are 13.5 x 21 cm each. The usual London landmarks are all represented, on streets which seem very empty to the modern eye, and populated by pedestrians, horses and carriages. Album is 300 by 220mm (11Ÿ by 8Ÿ inches). .

A bound collection of issues of The Illustrated London Almanack. This was published annually by The Illustrated London News from 1845 to 1895. The full title states that this "contains astronomical diagrams of remarkable phenomena, printed in tints, under the superintendence of James Breen. Ferns and Butterflies of the months, printed in colours by Leighton Brothers with descriptive letterpress by Mrs Lankester, fine art engravings, original designs heading the calendar and a variety of useful information." The illustrations show the Victorian obsession with the rural idyll. Half brown leather, with gilt decoration and titles. Brown buckram boards. Boards are a little faded and rubbed, but still attractive. Marbled end papers. Internally in good, if slightly darkened condition. Pagination is: 1865, 58 pages; 1866, 54 pages; All volumes from 1867 to 1874 have 56 pages in each; 1875, 48 pages, 1876, 48 pages. Each year is complete - apart from 1876, which has five of the six colour plates called for. 1866 has 4 colour plates (but it does not state how many it should have). There are a total of 69 full colour chromolithographs, and the rest b/w. Subjects include court circulars, information about government expenditure, Army & Navy movements, notable deaths and happenings in London &c. 280 mm x 210 mm (11 x 8Πinches).
A collection of four deeds and legal documents connected with the Paddington Estate, London.

Four documents concerned with the Paddington Estate in West London. The monks of Westminster had land in Paddington from the 11th Century. After the Reformation, these rested with the Bishop of London. From the late 19th Century, these were gradually sold of through holding companies, the last being sold in the 1980's. These documents comprise: July 1903 - A counterpart licence for 14 Cleveland Square with permissions to renovations and changes to the property. 4 pages. April 1913 - A counterpart licence to add a garage for private motor cars to 7 Chilworth Mews. 3 pages and a large drawn handcoloured architectural plan of the front of the building and ground floor (on glassine). July 1926 - A licence and deed of covenant to turn 40 Cleveland Square into 3 maisonettes. 12 pages. plus a large folding architectural plan of the proposed changes, with seals and tagged seal. February 1929 - A lease from the Ecclesiastical Commissioners to A. H. Heath for a lease on 110 Westbourne Terrace, Paddington. 6 pages and glassine coloured plan of property. A nice bundle of London related legal documents.

London NA 1918 Un bel album de photographies, Circa 1918. Demi simili cuir avec cartons et cordons de serrage. Celui-ci contient 22 photographies touristiques de Londres. Al sont de taille 6,5 cm x 8,5 cm. Joli ton sépia avec des chiffres blancs. Ceux-ci semblent être principalement (ou peut-être tous) de Valentine. Il y a des légendes manuscrites à côté de nombreuses photographies des principaux monuments de Londres. La datation provient du style et des véhicules présentés. Il y a alors un certain nombre de pages blanches. À l'arrière de l'album se trouvent 4 photographies plus grandes (10 cm x 14 cm avec 3 extérieurs et un intérieur de maisons de campagne britanniques. Celles-ci semblent être des photographies légèrement ultérieures - peut-être des années 1930. Un total de 26 photographies. Provenance : d'un marché d'antiquités de Bruxelles, Petite photographie (de l'atelier bruxellois) avec une photo d'avion, vers les années 1950. A nice photograph album, from Circa 1918. Half faux leather with card boards and cord ties. This contains 22 tourist photographs of London. All are size 6.5cm x 8.5cm. Nice sepia tone with white numbers. These seem to be mainly (or possibly all) by Valentine. There are handwritten captions alongside many of the photographs of the major London landmarks. The dating is from the style and vehicles shown. There are then a number of blank pages. To the rear of the album are 4 larger (10cm x 14cm photographs with 3 exteriors and one interior of British country houses. These would appear to be slightly later photographs - perhaps 1930's. A total of 26 photographs. Provenance: From a Brussels antique market, Small photograph (from Brussels studio) with a photograph of an aircraft, circa 1950's. A nice collection. Album dimensions 175 by 205mm (7 by 8 inches). .

London: R. Ackermann's Repository, 1808 Planche numéro 9 du "Microcosme de Londres" d'Ackermann. Une belle aquatinte. Première édition. La plaque mesure 24 cm x 29 cm. La taille du montage est de 32,5 cm sur 38 cm (12Ÿ sur 15 pouces). Les détails architecturaux ont été dessinés par Pugin, et Rowlandson a dessiné les personnages (les deux sont crédités sur la feuille). L'aquatinte a été réalisée par J. Bluck. Très belle impression propre de cette planche, avec une bonne mise en couleur. Une très petite rousseur fermée sur le bord inférieur de la planche. Ackermann a réalisé cette uvre entre 1807 et 1810. L'un des plus grands livres de planches en couleurs. "Les planches de Rowlandson et de Pugin présentent une image inégalée de Londres au début du XIXe siècle, d'une valeur historique, car de nombreux bâtiments n'existent plus." (Tooley).
Plate number 9 from Ackermann's "Microcosm of London". A lovely aquatint. First edition. Plate is 24cm x 29 cm. Mount size is 32.5cm by 38cm (12Ÿ by 15 inches). The architectural details were drawn by Pugin, and Rowlandson drew the figures (both are credited on the sheet). The aquatinting was done by J. Bluck. Very nice clean impression of this plate, with good colouring. A very small closed foxing spot to the bottom edge of the plate. Ackermann produced this work between 1807 and 1810. One of the greatest of the colour plate books. "The plates by Rowlandson and Pugin present an unrivaled picture of London in early 19th century, of historic value, as many of the buildings no longer exist." (Tooley) .
