Het jaar is 1937. De 42 jarige Hongaarse beeldhouwer Arthur Fleischmann kwam vanaf Java via een kleine zeilboot aan op Bali. Een nieuw en exotisch hoofdstuk opende zich voor hem. Bewapend met een 35 mm Dolina camera en een gevoelig oog van een artiest, legde hij het leven, gewoontes en schoonheid van het Balinese volk vast in meer dan 1800 foto's. Als de dreiging van de oorlog in de Pacific er niet geweest was, zou hij voor de rest van zijn leven gebleven zijn op het mooie en rustige paradijs. Zich bezig houdend met beeldhouwen an fotograferen van de gracieuze jonge tempel dansers die zijn muzen werden. In plaats daarvan ontsnapte hij naar Australie waar hij een manuscript schreef ten geleide van zijn Balinese foto's. In dit boek zijn gedeeltes van dit orginele script gepresenteerd met de beste foto's uit zijn collectie. The year is 1937. Armed with a 35mm camera Dolina and a sensitive eye of an artist, he documented the life, customs and beauty of the Balinese people stuck in more than 1800 pictures. As the threat of war in the Pacific had not been there, he would have remained for the rest of his life on the beautiful and peaceful paradise. Being engaged in sculpting an photograph of the young graceful temple dancers who were his muses. Instead, he escaped to Australia, where he wrote a manuscript preface of his Balinese photos. In this book are sections of this original script presented with the best photos from his collection.
