Volume I gives a chronological account of Poussin's life and work, discussing his methods and tools, the shipping and pricing of Poussin's paintings during his lifetime and his relationship to Spanish, Italian and French patrons. Including a trascript of the 1640 will and the 1665 inventory after his death. Volumes II and III contain the catalogue raisonne, divided between 293 accepted, 10 unexecuted and 319 rejected works, with a separate list of 2460 paintings mentioned in auction records, correspondence, guidebooks and other documents, from the seventeenth to the nineteenth century. Volume IV provides a talbe of concordances, the sites of all known restorations, a bibliography, a list of exhibitions, quoted manuscript material (1647-1911), and an index. Text in French.
