(publ. booklist), with in all 7 engraved plates (incl.front & engr. title), 1 hw. name ‘Isabella Rumsden’, in an attractive Scottish (?) binding, (although the work is complete, the spine shows ,1’, likely 1 of more binding done for the Scottish collector on similar works).

With woodcuts by Thoma Bewick and 7 engraved plates including the engraving of „Rousseau contemplating the wild Beauties of Switzerland“. drawn by Kirk and engraved by Ridley, which shows Rousseau seated beside a large waterfall with his walking stick and dog by his side. Zimmermann’s book was very influential on the British artist and writers in „search of the picturesque and the sublime“. With a cut out description by a collegue bookseller with his fine description of „this unusual contemporary ,Scottish binding’ of tan tree calf backed with red morocco, flat spine gilt panelled and decorated with floral and musical motifs, black morocco lettering piece, tan numbering piece, covers elaborately bordered in gilt, edges with Greek key pattern“.
