‎LYSER Johann Peter Theodore‎
‎Polygamia Triumphatrix‎

‎Sumptibus Authoris, Londini [Amsterdam] 1682, in-4 (21,6x16,5cm), (10) 565pp. - 32., relié.‎

Reference : 7687

Graesse, I, 68. Rare.

‎"LYSER JOHANN PETER THEODORE.‎

Reference : 57353

(1682)

‎Polygamia Triumphatrix id est Discursus Politicus de Polygamia cum notis Athanasii Vincentii omnibus anti-polygamis ubique locorum, terrarum, insularum, pagorum, urbium, modeste & pie opposita‎

‎Londini Scanorum [Lund, Sweden], 1682. 4to. Contemporary full calf binding. Original boards preserved, spine renewed. Previous owner's name to title-page. A few marginal wormtracts, only slightly toutching text. Light miscolouring to upper margin and last few leaves with dampstain in outer margin. (10), 565, (1), 32 pp.‎

‎Third enlarge edition of Lyser's defence of polygamy. His work caused an outcry throughout Europe and the work was subsequently banned. The first edition of ""Polygamia"" was printed 1674 and the second in 1676. Johann Lyser (1631-84?), was a lutheran minister from Leipzig, who - not surprisingly - never married.Thesaurus 547 Bibl Dan. I, 616 Brunet I, 160‎
