Treccani‎

The first two volumes deal with inorganic chemistry, the third with organic chemistry (vegetable and animal), the fourth with analytical chemistry. In this second edition a brief treatment of Dalton's theory has been added to volume I. The detailed index included in each volume makes Thenard's book a particularly useful reference work for the chemistry of its period."" D. S. B. , XIII, p. 313.
