Engraved title page with allegorical border + 3 unnumberd leaves (preface, chaos and homo ills.) + 132 lvs each with an illustration engraved by C.van de Passe, printed on top of the pages, underneath in two colums the Latin and the German text. All printed on the recto side only, on strong paper.. (complete). Bound in a brown full morocco binding , without decoration (jansenist), all edges gilt. raised spine with gilt title, Marbled endpapers, pastedown within an intricate floral and straight fillet pattern. Some margins have been carefully restored (max. restored width only a few millimeter). Binding signed Chambolle-Duru. Very fine copy. Crispin van de Passe produced his series of engravings for an edition of 1602. This 1607 edition appeared with the addition of the bi-lingual epigrams (Latin & German). There exists also an edition with the epigrams in Latin and Dutch. Both edition are rare.
