Angelo is an Italian boy who travels with his family performing gymnastics and walking a tightrope to entertain people. One day he sees a girl in the crowd who is crying, and so he sets his mind that he must do something to cheer her up. Not one of Blake's best known titles, but a fun and colourfully illustrated children's book with a lovely message! 270 x 215 mm (10Ÿ x 8œ inches).

Le Hussard sur le toit. - Le Bonheur fou. - Angelo.
Paris Gallimard 1951, 1957 et 1958 3 vol. reliés 3 vol. in-8, demi-maroquin miel à gros grain à coins, dos à fins nerfs, têtes dorées, non rognés, couvertures et dos conservés, 398, 461 et 243 pp. Réunion en éditions originales des trois grands titres du cycle du "Hussard", fresque historique et romanesque ayant pour point central la relation entre Angelo Pardi, hussard italien en exil, et Pauline de Théus, une femme mariée. Deux autres titres sont rattachés au cycle : Mort d'un personnage (1948) qui rapporte la vieillesse de Pauline et Les Récits de la demi-brigade (1972, posthume), recueil de nouvelles dans lequel réapparaissent quelques personnages. La chronologie historique de cette fresque ne suit pas les dates de parution. Dans Angelo (1958), complément au Hussard sur le toit, l'action se situe en 1832 : le hussard fuit le Piémont après un duel mortel et se réfugie à Gap puis Aix-en-Provence où il fait la rencontre de Pauline de Théus. Le Hussard sur le toit (1951) présente un récit similaire et prolongé, scellant la rencontre amoureuse d'Angelo et Pauline pendant l'épidémie de choléra. Enfin, Le Bonheur fou (1957), dont l'action se passe 15 ans après, pendant la révolution italienne de 1848, est un roman d'amitié et de combats : Angelo est rentré en Italie, alors que Pauline a retrouvé son mari. Chaque volume est un des 210 exemplaires numérotés sur vélin pur fil Lafuma Navarre (n°61, n°201 et n°O). Excellent ensemble parfaitement relié à l'identique par Devauchelle.
