Raymond Jean Marie De Kremer est un écrivain belge bilingue, né le 8 juillet 1887 et mort le 17 septembre 1964 à Gand. Il écrit en français principalement sous le pseudonyme Jean Ray et en néerlandais souvent sous le pseudonyme John Flanders. Mais il a aussi usé de plusieurs dizaines d'autres pseudonymes et a, selon les éditions et rééditions, utilisé indifféremment l'un ou l'autre pseudo. Il est connu en français pour s'être largement consacré à la littérature fantastique, dont il est un des maîtres mais il a aussi beaucoup écrit pour la jeunesse.

Printed in an edition of 80 numbered copies, signed by the artist. [I] The first text , byJean Ray, is in French, illustrated with 6 original full page engravings, all signed by the artist ; and 13 ornamental letters. [II] The second text, byJohn Flanders, is in Dutch, illustrated with 4 original full page engravings, all signed by the artist ; and 7 ornamental letters. Extraordinary belgian bibliophile edition in the sphere of ''Magic Realism''. This is one of the very rare publications which contains two texts, different from each other, and different in language, but by the same author. Indeed Raymond Jean de Kremer (Gent 1887- Gent 1964) was a Flemish writer who felt himself equally at ease when writing French or Dutch. Initially he used the pseudonym Jean Ray for his French ; and John Flanders for his Dutch writings. He is generally considered to be the main precursor of Magic Realism in French Belgian and Flemish Dutch literature. The very fine engravings were pulled by the artist himself ; André Goezu, born (1939) and educated in Antwerp, of jewish descent. He moved to Paris in 1968 where he still lives."
