‎Perth, Cowan & Co., 1898. 4to. Uncut in contemporary blue half calf with five raised bands. Spine miscoloured and edges of boards with wear. Upper edge gilt. Ex-libris (Vilhelm Wanqvist) to verso of front board. A few annotations but otherwise internally nice and clean, printed on good paper. XV, (2), 18-340 pp. + frontispiece and 12 plates. ‎

‎Rare first edition of Smith's history of the Lodge Scoon & Perth, No. 3, often considered one of the oldest masonic lodges in Scotland, with roots dating back to the 12th century alongside the Abbey of Scone. David Crawford Smith was a Scottish antiquarian, historian and Freemason based in Perth, specializing in local topography and Masonic heritage. He was elected a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland in 1898. Wolfsteig 6236.‎
