Première édition de cette rare et belle impression vénitienne en langues européennes et orientales.Ce petit volume réunit 24 prières attribuées au grand catholicos arménien Nersès IV Chnorhali [1098-1173] imprimées en 24 langues différentes: arménien, copte, anglais, arabe, français, grec, hébreu, espagnol, hollandais, hongrois, italien, latin, persan, polonais, russe, turc, chinois, etc… Imprimé sur beau papier vélin, c'est l'un des chefs-d'oeuvre sortant des presses des pères Lazaristes arméniens de Venise.Né et mort en Cilicie, Nersès IV, dit le Gracieux, canonisé à la fois par les Grégoriens et les Catholiques, consacra sa vie à réaliser la conciliation des Eglises grecques et arménienne, mais mourut avant de voir son rêve accompli. Nersès est l'un des grands poètes de l'Arménie: on lui doit des cantiques, des hymnes, un poème sur la fin du monde, et une histoire de l'Arménie ‎

‎" Venetiis ( Venetia ), In Insula San Lazari, 1837, format in-8°, (150 x 82 mm), (8)nn pp (engraved frontispiece, engraved title page,) + 434 pp + 43 pp (additio). Complete. Half-bound in black russian leather, decorated smooth spine with gilt title, all edges gilt. Fine copy notwithstanding the leather of the outer joints show wear. Interior stainless. Typographical and philological masterpiece of the monks of the Amenian christians residing on the Venetian island of San Lazzaro . The church was founded by Mechtiar in 1700 in Constantinopel. Expelled from the Ottoman empire they took residence in an abandoned abbey in Venice in 1717. The book contains a religious text of Saint Nersetis which is repeated here in 24 + 3 languages, printed in the matching types.
