M. 379 and 1533, etc. For the Chaplain's Use in Craft Lodges. In-4° (266 x 212 mm), [8] ff., basane chagrinée bleu nuit, titre et motif d'équerre et compas estampé à l'or au plat supérieur, tranches dorées (reliure éditeur ? de l'époque). Vraisemblable édition originale de ce manuel maçonnique en anglais, versets et prières pour les "craft lodges" (loges bleues des trois premiers degrés) établi par John August Lloyd, "Grand Chaplain" (Grand chapelain) d'Angleterre. Il comprend des versets et une prière pour chacun des trois premiers degrés maçonniques et, pour le premier et second degré, le texte du rituel de l'ouverture et de la fermeture des travaux (opening and closing of the lodge). On y trouve également : des prières pour les funérailles d'un Maître ("Prayers which may be used at the Funeral of a Master Mason"), une prière pour la pose de la première pierre ("Prayer on Laying a Foundation Stone"), la prière pour l'inauguration d'un temple, ("Prayer used on the Dedication of a Masonic Hall"), une prière pour l'installation d'un Vénérable Maître ("Prayer used at the Installation of the W. M [Worshipful Master]"), les prières du Grand Chapelain Provincial à l'ouverture et à la fermeture des travaux d'une Grande loge provinciale ("Prayers used by the Provincial Grand Chaplain at the Opening and Closing of Provincial Grand Lodge") et les grâces pour avant et après le repas. John Augustus Lloyd, vicaire de Broadhinton puis de Mere, fut Grand chapelain d'Angleterre de 1889 à 1891 environ et contribua à former la Lodge of Loyalty de Marlborough. Il mourut en 1912 à Goldaming. (The Wiltshire Archaeological and Natural History Magazine, vol 37, 1912, p. 616).
