Francfort sur le Main, Brönner, 1826 in-8, LXXVIII-624 pp., un f. n. ch. de corrigenda, avec une planche dépliante "in fine", demi-veau havane, dos lisse orné de fiets dorés, pièce de titre, tranches mouchetées de bleu (reliure de l'époque). Dos frotté.
Edition qui prend en compte la version donnée par Angelo Mai à partir de ce qui demeure la plus importante découverte de sa carrière de découvreur de textes laissés en première couche sur les palimpsestes : en 1818, en examinant le Vaticanus Latinus 5757 qui contenait un traité d'Augustin copié au début du VIIIe siècle, il réussit à isoler le texte gratté et il s'agissait de nombreux fragments du De Republica de Cicéron, oeuvre perdue depuis le moyen âge, et dont seule avait été transmise la fin (le Songe de Scipion). On avait là : une grande partie du premier livre, un long fragment du second, quelques détails du troisième, deux ou trois pages du quatrième et du cinquième, mais en revanche rien du sixième. Des passages entiers restèrent indéchiffrables, et des pages manquantes ou déclassées ajoutèrent aux lacunes. Mai parvint à reclasser les pages grâce à la numérotation lisible par endroit des livres de Cicéron et de cahiers du manuscrit d’origine. Il ajouta à ce texte les fragments déjà connus et le Songe de Scipion, et put produire ainsi une première édition. Malheureusement, malgré tout l'effort produit par Mai, ainsi que par Strelitz et Müller en 1874-78, le texte établi souffre encore de nombreuses lacunes. - - VENTE PAR CORRESPONDANCE UNIQUEMENT - LIEN DE PAIEMENT, NOUS CONSULTER.
