Première publication d'un dossier de lettres inédites échangées par le marquis de Sade et sa belle-sœur Anne-Prospère de Launay, chanoinesse séculière chez les bénédictines. L'ensemble était conservé dans les archives de la famille de Lesquen (descendants du marquis par sa petite-fille Laure-Émilie).L'histoire était connue, mais pas documentée par les protagonistes eux-mêmes : c'est en octobre 1771 qu'Anne-Prospère de Launay, la belle-sœur de Sade, délicate chanoinesse de dix-neuf ans, vint se reposer au château de La Coste. Avec elle, Sade ne se montra pas dans son état de fureur habituelle ; il est pour la première fois de sa vie amoureux. Et à La Coste, pendant près de dix mois, il goûta un bonheur exquis.
