Cousin de Francis Carco, Jérôme Ernest Joseph Carcopino, Normalien, haut fonctionnaire et homme politique français, était aussi un spécialiste de la Rome antique. Ayant participé au Gouvernement de Vichy, il est emprisonné en 1944 mais la Haute Cour de justice rend un arrêt de non-lieu pour services rendus à la Résistance. On conservera davantage de lui ses travaux d'historiens et d'archéologues que ses activités de haut fonctionnaire pendant les années de guerre.
Où se trouve donc Alésia ? Voici l'ouvrage qui permet de pénétrer au cœur du débat... Et d'en sortir puisque Jérôme Carcopino apporte des preuves définitives tirées de la toponymie, de la topographie, de l'archéologie et notamment de l'étude des monnaies gauloises et romaines. Bon état.

Le grand spécialiste de César s'efforce d'apporter une réponse solidement argumentée à la controverse sur le lieu de la bataille, exposant notamment la thèse en faveur d'Alise en Bourgogne et celle d'Alaise dans le Doubs.
