‎Très rare ouvrage contenant la très célèbre gravure du Végétal type, idéal, appendiculé illustrant les idées de GOETHE, la planche des Métamorphoses des organes appendiculaires des végétaux et la très belle gravure de la Rose-Cent-Feuilles, prolifère à calice foliacé. Contrairement à d'autres botanistes qui ne considérèrent les idées de Goethe que comme une fantaisie de poète, d'autant plus que les adeptes de la nouvelle théorie donnèrent une interprétation puérile aux abstractions de cette philosophie idéaliste, TURPIN présenta en 1837 un dessin de végétal-type qu'il avait conçu en 1804 destiné à démontrer l'unité de composition organique et l'identité originelle de tous les organes appendiculaires foliacés et latéraux, qui est une véritable caricature.
