Edizione originale del 1781 di questo importante supplemento del medico e naturalista svedese Carlo Linneo (1707-1778). Linneo, fondatore della moderna sistematica, riformò completamente la nomenclatura assegnando a tutti gli esseri viventi due nomi: uno per il genere e uno per la specie. Il Supplemento venne pubblicato postumo dal figlio di Linneo sulla base dei manoscritti del padre. Contiene la descrizione di 93 generi con 1303 specie tra le quali molte piante suriname. In buone condizioni e complet Copertina in piena pelle coeva con titolo in oro al dorso in buone condizioni generali con lievi usure ai margini e dorso. Legatura in buone condizioni. Linneo, establisher of modern systematics, completely reformed the names giving to all beings two names: one for kind, the other one for species. Summary The Physiologus is an ancient Christian collection of astonishing stories about animals, stones, and plants that serve as positive or negative models for Christians. Written originally in Greek, the Physiologus was translated in ancient times into Latin, Armenian, Syriac, Coptic, Ethiopic, Georgian, Arabic, and Old Slavonic. Throughout its transformations and adaptations, the Physiologus has never lost its attraction. L'opera è introdotta da: cenni storici sulla botanica in genere e sulla materia medica vegetale - azione dei medicamenti in genere - dei mezzi per isvelare l'azione dei medicamenti - dose dei medicamenti e modi di somministrarli. Il piemontese Felice Cassone (1815-1854), illustre botanico e medico, è l'autore di questa importante opera sulle piante medicinali, ciascuna ampiamente descritta in tutte le sue parti, le sue proprietà, le sue applicazioni in medicina, le sue varie denominazioni nelle diverse lingue, ecc.
