‎First and only edition of Holm’s botanical dissertation, defended at Uppsala under Carl Linne. One of the earliest systematic attempts at a flora of Denmark and closely connected to the Flora Danica project. Dissertations defended under Linnaeus are of great interest in themselves but this particular copy is accompanied by a highly interisting letter of recomendation from Carl Linne himself (although not in the hand of Linne), in which Linne is praising Holm’s mastery of natural history and medicine, his successful defense of Prodromus Florae Danicae, his scientific travels and his fine specimen collections. “Such a man… most learned in all branches of Natural History, such as his homeland will hardly recover… he has acquired such gifts of learning as will make him most welcome in any foreign land whatsoever.”- Carl Linnaeus, (Translation from the letter) Hulth, p. 108.Soulsby 1952Lärda Tidningar, 1757, no. 80, pp. 319-320Biblioteca Danica II, 189. ‎The exceedingly scarce separate edition of the Latin text of the first volume of Theodor Holmskiold's 'Beata Ruris Otia Fungis Danicis' (Copenhagen, 1790). As the first edition of 'Beata Ruris Otia Fungis Danicis', arguably the most splendid book ever printed in Denmark, was only printed in a small number of copies, the prominent Swedish mycologist Christiaan Hendrik Persoon (1761-1836) organised for this annotated reissue of the Latin text of the first volume to be published. The present copy belonged to the renowned Danish book collector Eiler Høeg, with his exlibris pasted to inside of front board. ‎

‎Rare second edition of Hornemann’s catalogue of the Copenhagen Botanical Garden. The work lists and classifies the Garden’s living plant collection according to the Linnaean system and served as a foundational teaching work in early 19th-century Danish botanical education. Jens Wilken Hornemann (1770–1841) later became one of Denmark’s most influential botanists. Trained under Martin Vahl at the University of Copenhagen and the Naturhistorieselskab he was appointed lecturer at the Botanical Garden in 1801, and succeeded Vahl as editor of Flora Danica in 1804.‎
