‎Het kasteeldomein Nieuwermolen in Sint-Ulriks-Kapelle (Dilbeek) is een uitzonderlijk landgoed, omringd door vijvers, groen en bossen. Ondanks de nabijheid van de grootstad Brussel behield het opmerkelijk goed zijn landelijk karakter. Eeuwenlang bleef het landgoed ? meestal door vererving in de vrouwelijke lijn ? in het bezit van legistenfamilies. In 1879 kwam het in handen van de familie de Ghellinck d?Elseghem, de huidige eigenaar. Wat Nieuwermolen zo bijzonder maakt, is dat het nauwelijks evolueerde sinds 1623, terwijl de meeste kastelen in eclectische of historiserende stijl werden verbouwd en hun parken in landschappelijke stijl werden heraangelegd. Vijf figuratieve kaarten in het rijke huisarchief (waarvan vier getekend door landmeters uit de familie De Deken) informeren ons over de architectuur- en tuingeschiedenis van het domein. Pas in 1928?1933 vond een grondige, maar respectvolle renovatie van het kasteel plaats door architect Paul Saintenoy, in opdracht van burggraaf Amaury Marc de Ghellinck en zijn gezin, de eerste permanente bewoners van het landgoed. Het boek bespreekt de inplanting van het domein in het landschap en vertelt het verhaal van de opeenvolgende families die het kasteel betrokken. Bijzondere aandacht krijgen de analyse van het kasteelgebouw en de renovatie in de jaren 1930, evenals de evolutie van de tuinen. De zakagenda?s van Amaury Marc de Ghellinck zijn een uitgelezen bron gebleken voor de renovatie en het dagelijkse leven op het kasteel in de eerste helft van de twintigste eeuw. La Normandie est, d'ancienne et haute r putation, une terre d'abbayes. La biblioth que municipale de Rouen conserve ainsi un grand nombre de manuscrits provenant des abbayes de Jumi ges, de F camp et de Saint-Wandrille, et celle d' vreux poss de au titre des manuscrits not s deux antiphonaires du xiiie si cle copi s l'usage de l'abbaye Notre-Dame de Lyre. La Biblioth que nationale de France est h riti re d'une biblioth que royale issue d'un vieux fonds et enrichie l' poque moderne par de multiples donations et acquisitions dont celles de la biblioth que des chanoines de Saint-Martial de Limoges (1731) et de l'immense collection de Jean-Baptiste Colbert (1732), enfin des biblioth ques des tablissements religieux de Paris confisqu es sous la R volution. La plupart de ces manuscrits d'origine et de provenance diverses rassembl s par les bibliophiles des temps modernes constituent un ensemble remarquable par sa compl mentarit l' gard des manuscrits not s pr sent s et analys s dans les pr c dents volumes de cette collection, en particulier de ceux des tablissements religieux du sud et du sud-ouest de la France. Une introduction substantielle pr sentant les fonds, leur histoire et leurs particularit s, claire le cadre historique dans lequel ces livres ont vu le jour ou ont t utilis s. Chaque notice comporte une description sommaire du manuscrit, une pr sentation des l ments permettant de pr ciser l'origine ou la provenance du volume, la date de sa r daction et son histoire. Les notices plus sommaires des manuscrits not s des collections parisiennes (1736 notices) consignent en particulier les l ments relatifs l'histoire moderne de ces derniers.
