‎Seconde édition romaine. " Cette série de 47 planches, dessinées par Eustachi lui-même, fut réalisée en 1552 en vue d'illustrer son ouvrage intitulé De dissensionibus ac controversiis anatomicis, qui ne parut finalement pas. Seules les 8 premières planches furent publiées de son vivant, dans son Opuscula anatomica. Les planches furent retrouvées au début du XVIIIe siècle dans la bibliothèque du Vatican et offertes par le pape Clément XI à son médecin, le célèbre Lancisi. Ce dernier les publia en 1714 avec ses propres notes. Ces planches sont plus précises que l'uvre de Vésale ; Singer était d'avis que si elles étaient apparues en 1552, Eustachi se serait rangé avec Vésale comme l'un des fondateurs de l'anatomie moderne. Il a découvert la trompe d'Eustache, le canal thoracique, la surrénale et le nerf abducens, et a donné la première description précise de l'utérus. Il a également décrit la cochlée, les muscles du thorax et l'origine des nerfs optiques. " (d'après texte anglais de Garrison-Morton, 391). ‎
