‎Anne Bonnet (1908-1960) obtient enfin l'attention qu'elle mérite avec ce livre. L'artiste belge encore relativement méconnu a été l'un des fondateurs de l'association d'artistes De Jonge Belgische Schilderkunst et a été membre du groupe Kunst van Heden. Elle personnifie une transition essentielle dans l'art moderne : celle de la figuration à l'abstraction. Au départ, Bonnet peint dans un style animiste - en opposition au surréalisme naissant - mais après 1950, elle dépouille son travail d'un certain sentimentalisme et développe une forme extrêmement personnelle de peinture abstraite. ‎Marcel PRUNIER (1894?-1988?) Dessin original signé en bas à droite et daté 1937 "Deux jeunes filles" (titre non contractuel) Dimensions du dessin : environ 29 x 20 cm. Cadre d'attente moderne imitation bois avec passe-partout : 40 x 30 cm. Superbe dessin très abouti. On a de ce peintre des filles de joie, des scènes de cabaret parisien, scènes de nuit, etc. On trouve des peintures et des dessins datés dès 1926. Marcel Prunier (1894 - 1988) d'après le Dictionnaire des peintres de M. Roussart. Il fut Fondateur et directeur de la publication du journal des tranchées "La Rosse" sous le pseudonyme "MAP" vers 1916 ... Peintre né à Paris, au XXe siècle. Ce décorateur a travaillé à la Manufacture de Sèvres en tant que peintre décorateur de 1920 à 1959. Avec Emile Decoeur. Par contre nous connaissons quelques unes de ses œuvres, surtout des tableaux représentant des gens de justice, bien enlevés avec un trait juste et mordant, ainsi que des nus de filles de joie traités avec beaucoup de réalisme. Son œuvre est souvent proche de celle de Pascin. Il avait exposé, au Salon d’Automne, “Nature morte” et “Valmondois”, en 1941, et aux Indépendants. Atelier au 10, rue Damrémont. Il existe peut être un lien de parenté avec Gaston Prunier qui serait son père. Peintre né au Havre en 1863 et mort en 1927 et qui a fait des sujets très semblables. ‎

Now widely acclaimed as one of the world's greatest photographers, Saul Leiter (1923-2013) remained relatively unsung until he was rediscovered by curators and critics in his early 80s, and his work has been drastically re-evaluated over the last two decades. Leiter's images evoked the flow and rhythm of life on the mid-century streets of New York in luminous colour at a time when his contemporaries were shooting in black and white. His complex and impressionistic photographs are as much about evoking an atmosphere as nailing the decisive moment. Saul Leiter was born in Pittsburgh and moved to New York City in 1946. He pioneered a painterly approach to colour photography starting in the late 1940s and produced covers for fashion magazines such as Esquire and Harper's Bazaar before largely withdrawing from public attention in the 1980s. The publication in 2006 of his first monograph, Early Color, inspired an avid 'rediscovery' of Leiter's work by contemporary audiences.
