‎-Nicolas Eekman is a Flemish painter author of an abundant painted work. -He is also a renowned draftsman, illustrator and engraver. -Eekman was influenced by Cubism, Realism and Flemish paintings of the 16th and 17th Century Nicolas Eekman (1889-1973) is the heir of the great creators of his native Flanders, from J r me Bosh to James Ensor, as well as one of the representatives of the School of Paris. Born in Brussels where he studied architecture, he turned to painting and exhibited for a few years in Holland before settling in Paris in 1921. Close to his compatriot Mondrian with whom he exhibited at the Jeanne Bucher gallery (1928), he is also closely linked to the artists Jean Lur at, Marcoussis, Max Jacob, Lipchitz, and later with Mo se Kisling and Frans Masereel. Influenced by Cubism to which he devoted a few outstanding years, he gradually returned, in the 1930s, to realism and then from the 1950s turned to the fantastic, reviving the Flemish painting of the fifteenth and sixteenth century. Author of an abundant painted work, he is also a renowned draftsman, illustrator and engraver whose works have been collected by numerous print studios (Brussels, Hanover, Berlin, Hamburg, Basel, Budapest).‎

‎De arbeidersbeweging streefde aanvankelijk naar de maatschappelijke ontvoogding van de kleine man en vrouw die door het negentiende-eeuwse kapitalisme veroordeeld leken tot een armoedig bestaan. Dat dit ver achter ons ligt, is de verdienste van de arbeidersbeweging. Maar met de kennis van onze sociale geschiedenis is het povertjes gesteld. Alleen wie de jaren van sociale onzekerheid en schaarste aan den lijve gevoeld heeft, beseft welke strijd en inzet de welvaartsmaatschappij hebben doen ontstaan die we vandaag als vanzelfsprekend ervaren. De politieke partijen die zich historisch beriepen op de verdediging van de kleine man liggen in de lappenmand, de sociale zekerheid en de verzorgingsstaat kraken in hun voegen en in het verweer daartegen grijpen de vakbonden naar middelen die het niet altijd goed doen bij de publieke opinie. Historicus en voormalig leraar Jaak Brepoels is al sinds 1983 sp.a-gemeenteraadslid voor de stad Leuven en was van 1995 tot 2012 schepen. Plattegrond met driebeukig schip van vijf travee n, breed uitspringende dwarsbeuk, koor van twee travee n met zevenzijdige apsis omgeven door zijkapellen en ten slotte een zware ingebouwde westertoren. Vermoedelijk begin 14de eeuw start van de bouw, onder andere gedenksteen in koorapsis uit 1337 met vermelding van Franse bouwmeester Jacob Piccart. Vermoedelijk werd in de eerste helft van de 15de eeuw de westerpartij afgewerkt. Restauratie tussen 1844 en 1912 door Joseph Jonas Dumont en anderen, ook na 1945 restauraties.‎
