‎Summary Achard de Saint-Victor (1171) est un représentant moins connu de l'école de Saint-Victor, élève d'Hugues, chanoine régulier, maître, abbé de Saint-Victor à Paris (1155-1161), évêque d'Avranches (1161-1171). Son oeuvre principal, le De unitate et pluralitate creaturarum, consiste en deux parties qui portent sur la doctrine trinitaire et sur la doctrine de la pluralité des raisons éternelles dans le Verbe de Dieu. Cette recherche entend rétablir les thèses principales exposées par Achard de Saint-Victor dans son livre De unitate et pluralitate creaturarum pour montrer que les capacités métaphysiques de ce penseur ne le cèdent pas aux philosophes plus connus de son époque. Notamment, l'autrice étudie la façon dont le De unitate recourt aux doctrines médio et néoplatoniciennes pour résoudre la question d'une coexistence de l'unité et de la pluralité en Dieu et dans les créatures. L'enjeu est de mieux comprendre la place de la métaphysique platonicienne dans l'école de Saint-Victor, et ce malgré la rareté des sources au XIIe siècle, en particulier des oeuvres de Platon ou de ses disciples grecs. Il se compose de cinq branches dont l'ordre diégétique : l'Estoire del Saint Graal, le Merlin et sa Suite, le Lancelot en prose, la Queste del Saint Graal et la Mort Artu, ne suit pas la chronologie de la composition. Le cycle raconte l'histoire du Graal, depuis ses origines et jusqu'à sa conquête par le Bon Chevalier Galaad, et les aventures de Lancelot, héritée du Chevalier de la Charette de Chrétien de Troyes. Il dessine habilement une histoire capable de réunir les temps christiques à ceux du royaume Arthurien et d'embrasser des discours variés issus de la Bible, de la littérature exemplaire, de la pensée théologique et du roman courtois. Plus de cent quarante manuscrits conservent encore aujourd'hui tout ou partie du Lancelot-Graal, ce qui témoigne d'un succès jamais démenti du XIIIe au XVe siècle et d'un prestige dont de nombreux princes et souverains, d'Henri IV de Luxembourg à Jean de Berry et Jacques d'Armagnac, ont voulu se parer. Pourtant, les manuscrits réunissant toutes les branches du cycle sont relativement peu nombreux. Besides several works on astronomy, he wrote a number of treatises against the Palamites in the tradition of his teacher and mentor Nicephorus Gregoras: (1.) Former emperor John Cantacuzenus composed a lenghty treatise against Argyrus (Contra Argyrum), in which he attacks the fact that Argyros and his followers deny three things: that the seven spirits referred to by Isaiah are uncreated; that the grace of God is uncreated; and that men receive gifts of God in an immediate manner. ‎Summary In 1239 the Christian convert Nicholas Donin submitted thirty-five articles to Pope Gregory IX that decried the indecency, blasphemy, and heresy in the Talmud. As a result, the pope triggered a campaign across Europe that gave rise to a trial of the Talmud in Paris in 1240. The Latin translation of the Talmud - namely, the 1245 Extractiones de Talmud and later versions such as the Excerptum de Talmud - emerged from these events. This volume offers the first critical edition, along with an English translation, of the Excerptum de Talmud. Drawing on the substantial translation of the Babylonian Talmud known as the Extractiones de Talmud (Paris, 1245), the Excerptum provided a selection of passages from the Talmud which its compiler organized according to controversial topics. This book consists of two principal parts. The first contains a study of the Excerptum, its textual source (the Extractiones de Talmud), and an overview of the historical background which prompted this translation. The second part consists of an edition and translation of the text, as well as an edition of the passages from the Extractiones which served as the basis for the Excerptum. ‎Summary Chancelier de l'Université de Paris, Jean Gerson (1363-1429) est surtout connu comme théoricien de la théologie mystique et par son action réformatrice au sein de l'Église pendant les années difficiles du Grand Schisme, où il joua un rôle de premier plan. Or si la carrière universitaire et l'action politique de Gerson font de lui un intellectuel parisien, l'évidence de la transmission manuscrite et imprimée désigne sans équivoque le Rhin supérieur comme la région où la diffusion des oeuvres du chancelier a été la plus foisonnante. Intervenant à une échelle comparable à la diffusion manuscrite des oeuvres de Thomas d'Aquin, le rayonnement de l'oeuvre de Gerson a ceci de spectaculaire qu'il dépasse largement le milieu universitaire et qu'il se déploie en moins d'un siècle. Le paradoxe reste pourtant intact de pourquoi l'Allemagne, et non la France, s'impose comme le lieu de rayonnement de l'oeuvre de Gerson dans des proportions aussi importantes quantitativement ? Pour répondre à cette question, l'étude de la réception de l'oeuvre du chancelier ne peut pas faire l'économie d'une réévaluation de la tradition manuscrite et imprimée des 15e et 16e siècles à partir des témoins préservés dans les bibliothèques du Rhin supérieur. En privilégiant le cas de Gerson comme point d'observation, ce volume se propose de renouveler les perspectives de l'histoire intellectuelle et culturelle dans le long 15e siècle en focalisant sur l'histoire des textes, les conditions et les circonstances de leur transmission, afin de dresser une cartographie des réseaux de communication dans la région rhénane dans les décennies qui entourent l'invention de l'imprimerie. ‎Summary This book offers the first comprehensive investigation of the role of music within the context of Italian imperial expansion in Africa, with a particular focus on the Fascist period. While Italy's colonial project spanned approximately sixty years, it was during the final decades - under Mussolini's regime - that music emerged as a subtle yet potent instrument of propaganda. Despite its importance, the intersection of Italian music and colonial politics has remained critically underexplored, often eclipsed by postwar narratives that sought to deny or obscure cultural complicity. Drawing on archival sources, colonial newspapers, Italian and international press, published and unpublished scores, and personal accounts, the book examines four domains of entanglement between music and imperial ideology: the projection of Italian cultural identity in Libya through opera houses and concert programming; the colonial staging of Arab musical and dance traditions to satisfy orientalist appetites; the overlooked field of Italian musical ethnography in colonial settings, marked by flawed methodology and rare sonic documentation; and the creation of propagandistic works endorsing imperial ambitions. Special attention is given to Libya under Governor Italo Balbo, including Radio Tripoli's role in circulating local music, and to compositions by Adriano Lualdi and Alfredo Casella that engaged with imperial themes. These case studies show how music was mobilized to affirm nationalism, legitimize domination, and shape perceptions of the Other. By reintegrating music into the historiography of Italian colonialism, this study reclaims a neglected dimension of twentieth-century culture, challenging enduring silences in both musicological and postcolonial scholarship.
