Jahrhunderts entstanden auf dem damaligen Gebiet der Schweiz eine Reihe von Altartafeln und Wandmalereien, auf denen Nelkenblüten eine wesentliche Rolle spielen; nach ihnen hat man die anonymen Berner Maler zwischen 1479 und 1510 »Nelkenmeister« benannt. Ihr Hauptwerk ist der Hochaltar der Franziskanerkirche in Freiburg i.Ü., der 1479/80 im Wesentlichen von einer Basler Werkstatt für das Kloster geschaffen wurde und sich durch seine Ikonografie in die franziskanische Tradition einfügt. Moderne naturwissenschaftliche Erkenntnisse ermöglichen es heute, hinsichtlich der Entstehung des Retabels neue Schlüsse zu ziehen. ‎Naar aanleiding van de publicatie van het boek Guy Baekelmans - een spirituele reis, toont het FelixArt Museum een selectief overzicht van de werken van de kunstenaar. Begonnen in 1968 met figuren en vormen in de stijl van Pop Art en Hard Edge, voerde Guy Baekelmans (° 1940, Berchem) al snel vereenvoudigingen in kleur en vorm door. De evolutie naar het constructivisme ging in de eerste 20 jaar gepaard met een vroege interesse in de Oosterse filosofieën en leidde tot optische en dynamische wisselwerkingen geconstrueerd in het vierkant.
